Concrete Overgrowth is a book consisting of images by Ian Cunningham exploring the changing landscape of the State College area and reflecting on our experience as two young adults who grew up here. The images explore the way spaces change at night, paired with writing from both myself and Ian.

a love letter to the town
Growing up in State College, I’ve watched this town change greatly in the last 5-10 years. Many of the locations I see in Ian’s work bring a sense of nostalgia for where this town has come from. State College is a very unique town when it comes to the relationship between the college and the surrounding area. In the book we want to take a look at this relationship and look at where this town is going, what has changed, and ask if these huge leaps forward are a good thing, a bad thing, or are they more neutral.
