play like a girl
Categories
As part of my Art Direction and Graphic Design Internship with Laundry Service, I had the opportunity to work on a pro-bono project for the Non-profit Play Like a Girl. Their mission is to set girls up for success by connecting them through sports and STEM. After presenting to the client, our team’s pitch was chosen for production.

Play like a girl
Let’s raise a generation of girls that know the power of playing like a girl.
We proposed a launch moment and several social activities, including a content series on platforms like IGTV and YouTube that shows how both young athletes and successful women in STEM run their days.
Using a split-screen treatment, we wanted to show how the high energy and time management of sports lasts a lifetime, preparing girls for any field.
This series will show young girls that they already have all the tools to run their futures.
We also included a second series called the Game Changers Spotlight highlighting several athletes and STEM leaders.
We proposed a series of interviews and videos featuring leading female athletes or CEOs. They’ll talk about the support and skills they've gained from their involvement in sports, helping prepare girls for any field.
This Masterclass-esque series will be highlighted and featured on social platforms, while the entire series can be found on Play Like A Girl’s site— where registered members and girls can have full access and support from these leaders.
Create & Connect Kit
At the annual Girls Rock STEM Summit, bags would be given out with branded items and a year-long membership to PLAG for a limited number of attendees.
Would include an RFID wristband that activates on your phone based on location, unlocking access to events, like STEM+ Saturdays and Learning Labs, and bringing together more communities of like-minded young girls.
PLAG Discord
One way we wanted to leverage our Create & Connect Kit is by creating a PLAG Discord.
This Discord will serve as a hub for girls to connect with one another in a digital space. The sub-communities will allow girls to talk about STEM, sports, upcoming meet-ups, or just general conversation.
This is a way for PLAG to stay involved with young girls and their growth all year around.
e-zine
We additionally wanted to create an E-Zine to be sent out monthly to the Play Like a Girl organization.
Every issue will highlight a different woman in STEM or sports as the headline story, inspiring girls to see role models represented in every field. The Zine will also share important information about PLAG, including upcoming events.
Making it a point to show girls inspiring stories of leaders in their dream industries, will prepare them to take on any field.
